Hosting an Activity? Sabrina and Thomas Say: Just Go for It!

We often hear from members that they’d love to see more fresh activities in the app. But when it comes to creating something themselves, many hesitate.
The good news? It’s way easier than you think, we promise! 😉
To give you a little inspiration and confidence, we handed the mic to two experienced members: Sabrina and Thomas, both active Community Captains at Meet5. They shared why they love hosting, and their tips for making it a great experience.
🎤 Why do you like organizing activities?
Sabrina: If I want to go to a festival, but I don’t feel like going alone, I just create an activity in the app. Chances are, there are other people who’d love to come too!
Thomas: When I host, I can do exactly what I enjoy, whether that’s a dinner at a restaurant I like or an activity I’ve been wanting to try. And I get to decide when, where, and who joins. It’s simple and flexible.
💡 Any tips for first-time hosts?
Sabrina: If you’re unsure anyone will show up, start with something easy, like dinner at a restaurant. Eating together is always a hit, and it’s a great way to ease into hosting. After your first event, you’ll feel much more confident!
Thomas: For me, accessibility matters. I always try to pick spots with free or affordable parking, and that are easy to reach by public transport. If the location is a bit out of the way, I ask in the group chat if people want to carpool.
Also, if you're hosting something active, like a walk, be clear about the route length or time. That way, everyone can decide if it's a good fit for them.
🤔 Is it normal to feel unsure - and still go for it anyway?
Sabrina: Every activity can be fun, and you always meet friendly, open people. With Meet5, you’re never on your own. You’ll find that others are just as eager to connect.
Thomas: There’s really nothing to worry about. Every event I’ve attended, whether I hosted or joined, has been fun and full of interesting people. Some of my best friendships have come from Meet5 activities.
And seriously, what’s the worst that can happen? If no one signs up, you can just delete the activity. It's most likely due to external factors like weather or last minute commitments, nothing to do with you. But in most cases, people do join and things work out better than expected.
