Joining a Meet5 activity is all about meeting new people and having a great time together. One of the best ways to make sure things run smoothly is by using the group chat that’s automatically created for every activity you join. Here are a few simple tips to help you connect, coordinate, and avoid showing up alone.
Note: The Meet5 team cannot be in dozens of places at once, so all activities created by the team account are self-organized. This means that we plan something for the community, and everybody who signs up attends together.
1. Break the Ice Beforehand
Don’t be shy! Say hello in the chat before the activity! A quick message like “Hi everyone, looking forward to this” is usually enough to get the ball rolling. When others reply, you won't feel like you're just meeting strangers, since you’ve already connected online.
2. Confirm Who’s Coming
On the day of the activity, use the chat to check in:
“Who’s still on for tonight?”
“I’ll be there at 7, wearing a red jacket.”
This helps everyone know who to expect and makes it easier to spot each other.
3. Watch for No-Shows
Sometimes plans change, and that’s okay. If someone cancels in the chat, you’ll know ahead of time. If no one replies at all before the activity, that might be a sign the group isn’t as active. In that case, you can decide if you still want to go and risk doing the activity alone, or maybe suggest a new time for everyone.
4. Share Practical Details
Use the chat to coordinate small things that make the activity more fun and relaxed:
Carpooling or sharing a ride
Meeting point at a large venue
What to bring (snacks, blankets, etc.)
Remember, DO NOT SHARE personal details like phone numbers or off-app methods of contacting you, that is against our community rules. Feel free to share those things after meeting in person so you know that person is real.
5. Keep the Energy Positive
The chat is your chance to build a friendly vibe before meeting. Encourage others, share your excitement, and welcome newcomers. A little positivity goes a long way in making everyone feel included.
By making use of the group chat, you’ll arrive at your activity already feeling connected, and avoid those awkward moments of wondering if anyone else will show up.
