The great thing about Meet5 activities is that they’re planned by real people, just like you. Maybe you’ve already hosted your first activity, or perhaps you're thinking about posting one for the first time.

We sat down with Sabrina and Thomas, Meet5 Community Captains in Frankfurt and Cologne. They shared how easy and rewarding it is to plan your own activities, and offered tips for creating the perfect one.

Why do you plan your own activities?

Sabrina: “If I want to go to an arts festival but don’t want to go alone, I just create my own activity in the Meet5 app and see who wants to join me. I found a few friends this way, and when I post community events on the app, I always invite this crew the moment I create it!”

Thomas: “I like planning my own activities because I am picky on what I do and don’t always see things I like in the feed. And turns out other people like my ideas too. My events seeing new release movies have gotten popular, and I like making other people happy too.”

What tips would you give other Meet5 members who want to plan their own activity?

Sabrina: “If you’re nervous no one will come, start with something easy like lunch or dinner at a restaurant. Eating together is always popular. After your first activity and when you get to know more people, it gets easier to plan. Honestly, my first activity only had one person sign up. I could have just cancelled, but instead I brought a friend I knew from work, and the three of us had a really good time!”

Thomas: “Setting expectations always made my activities more popular. When planning, think about the location, if there’s parking or if it’s easy to get to by public transit. For walks, I always include the distance or duration. That helps people decide if it’s a good fit for them, rather than wondering and never RSVPing.”

Why shouldn’t people be afraid to plan their own activity?

Sabrina: “Activities are usually really fun. Everyone’s included. With Meet5, you’re not alone. Even though I enjoy spending time with others, I’m relatively shy, so at first I copied events that already did well. That really helped.”

Thomas: “Honestly, there’s nothing to be afraid of. My activities have all been great so far, with fun people. I’ve already made a few friends. And hey, what’s the worst that could happen? If no one signs up, you just delete the activity and try again another time.”

So, what are you waiting for? Try creating your own activity in the app.
